Relaxing Weekend

We had a very nice, relaxing couple of days, this weekend.

On Saturday, John and I had a double date with our 14 year old daughter and her 15 year old boyfriend. We went to the movies and to the mall. We saw "Casanova" with Heath Ledger. A chick flick and the boys survived it. After the movie we went to the mall. John needed some new slacks and we thought that would give the younger couple a little time to themselves.

On the way out of the mall, Jessica and I, dragged the men into Yankee Candle. The men stood at the front of the store and conversed, while Jessica and I walked around and sniffed candles. Between the two of us, we picked out 5 of the 3.7 ounce candles.

Jessica's boyfriend, Cass, seems to be a nice young man. He is quiet and has very nice manners. He has goals in life and that is very refreshing to find these days. He wants to be a football player or lawyer. I am guessing it's going to be a lawyer, unless he gets a little bigger in the next couple of years.

He does not go to the same school as Jessica. I think that is what makes this "relationship" different. She spends hours on the phone with him, so they are able to get to know each other, without anything else in the way.

She and I have talked about it, and I have decided that if and when this relationship ends...it will take a very long time for her to recover. I think this is her first "true" love.

Sunday was nice. John and I took Jessica over to a girlfriend's house to spend the day and night. There is no school tomomorrow. The grocery store called, so we answered. Came home and have been being lazy ever since. Watched some football, played games on the internet, had an "afternoon delight", stitched some and watched a very handsome man cook me lunch and dinner.

The only diasappointment this weekend was that the New England Patriots lost and will not be going to the Super Bowl. But, since they aren't going, we'll be cheering for the Steelers.

Memoirs of a Geisha

Jessica and I went and saw this movie today. I really enjoyed it, but the book is much, much better.

The movie moved some of the scenes around and combined some of them. It left out a great deal....but most movies made from books do.

It's got thumbs up from me and my 14 year old daughter.
